The Whole Truth was built on one idea that Shashank Mehta, an ex-HUL marketer, had been circling for years on his fitness blog FITSHIT: if there is nothing to hide, put it all on the label. The brand was a direct call-out of the food industry's oldest trick, hiding the bad stuff in fine print. Ingredient-first, zero buzzwords, complete transparency on pack and off it.
From 2019, Iterator was the technology partner behind the digital side of that mission. The website was not just a storefront. For the first 18 months, Shashank deliberately stayed off marketplaces, which meant the website had to do everything. Educate, convert, retain, and keep pace as the catalogue grew from a single protein bar SKU into new categories. We built the storefront, engineered the backend to absorb aggressive early growth, and structured the architecture so that the eventual move to marketplaces and quick commerce was an expansion rather than a rebuild.
Working with a brand that was growing as fast as The Whole Truth taught us more than any project before it. There were hard technical problems, scaling issues we had not encountered before, and moments where we had to figure things out under pressure. We came out the other side knowing significantly more than we went in with. That accumulation of hard-won knowledge is probably the most honest way to describe what Iterator is.
